Learning sequence design
The learning sequences for Foundation to Year 6 contain the following components and features:
Pre-unit Assessment: A strategy for gathering evidence of students' readiness, interests or learning profiles before beginning a lesson or unit. The information gained supports planning and instruction to ensure they best meet learners' needs.
Learning Hook: A brief introductory or focusing activity or resource that helps engage students’ interest and helps them to frame their thinking about the concept at hand.
Surface: Learning experiences giving foundational language, facts, basic concepts structure to lead into deeper learning.
Deep: Learning experiences that lead on from beginning experiences to question more deeply and explore ideas in different ways to lead to making connections between faith and life.
Transfer: Learning experiences that help students engage with deeper understandings that can be applied in their own lives.
Resources: Supporting materials directly related to specific teaching points, chosen to bring breadth, depth and enrichment.
